NJ Nursing Home Management Company Illegally Failed to Pay Nursing Staff
A federal Judge has Ordered a Hackensack-based staffing agency that placed direct-care staff in nursing homes across New Jersey to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in overtime and interest to 150 workers at 10 different nursing home facilities. Broadway Healthcare Management LLC must pay its workers $636,410 in back wages and an additional $97,388 in legal fees and investigative costs for failing to pay nursing staff for the hours they worked beyond their shifts.
This is not the first time that Broadway Healthcare Management LLC and its owner, Michael Konig, was found to have cheated workers out of their overtime pay. A 2008 investigation from the U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division resulted in an Order to pay back wages to nursing home staff.
