New Jersey law protects nursing home residents
New Jersey has some of the strongest laws in the country to prevent nursing home abuse and compensate those who suffer injuries and death because of poor nursing home care, care that violates New Jersey law and U.S. Government regulations. The New Jersey Nursing Home Responsibilities and Residents Rights Act is one of the strongest laws in the nation protecting our senior citizens. It requires facilities to comply with many laws and regulations and to provide courteous, respectful and dignified treatment. Nursing Home staff needs to “treat people like people, not like customers”. Our state has many regulationsrelating specifically to nursing homes.
When New Jersey nursing homes are negligent, when they don’t follow the law/regulations, when they violate your family member’s or loved one’s rights – you have the right to take them to Court for damages and compensation.
Sugarman Law and our Nursing Home Litigation Team continues winning its clients settlements and verdicts. In April 2013, we obtained a $750,000 settlement against a Northern New Jersey nursing home that did not give the legally required care and that caused our client’s pressure sores (bedsores), infections and death.
