Taking Steps To A World Without Alzheimer’s – 2013 New Jersey Walk To End Alzheimer’s Event
When my wife’s grandmother Shirley was lost to Alzheimer’s Disease, I saw firsthand the power of this terrible illness. Shirley wasn’t simply “lost,” she was ROBBED. Even as she was feeling fine physically, Alzheimer’s took her memories, her ability to communicate with family and friends and much more.
Now I work daily with families of those with Alzheimer’s and dementia. When these people are mistreated, neglected and abused in nursing homes, assisted living and memory care facilities, we hold them accountable. We take them to Court. Our help for those suffering from Alzheimer’s does not stop in the courtroom.
For Shirley and all those suffering with Alzheimer’s in our community, we are proud to support the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” event taking place in Point Pleasant on September 28, 2013. I am even prouder to say that my 13 year old niece, Danielle Horowitz, is the junior co-chair for this important event. The Walk will unite people of all ages from all different backgrounds and communities as a movement to end Alzheimer’s disease—the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States.
